Berkeley Public Health Corps

The Berkeley Public Health Corps (PHCorps) is a new club in the Center for Health Leadership at the SPH!  The PHCorps will facilitate opportunities for students to participate in group volunteer events in communities throughout the East Bay and San Francisco.  By introducing students to local public health concerns and the community organizations working to address them, PHCorps service projects will inspire students to realize their leadership potential in making a positive difference in Bay Area communities.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Serving meals to thousands of low-income and homeless people at the Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district (http://glide.org/Meals.aspx)
  • Helping the City of Berkeley with an environmental clean-up initiative
  • Providing support to ongoing projects at the Berkeley Free Clinic

When students first volunteer with the PHCorps, they will receive a free t-shirt to wear on all future PHCorps service projects!

The latest PHCorps volunteer project took place on Friday, November 5th, 3pm-6pm at the Glide Memorial Church meals program in San Francisco. PHCorps members served dinner to ~1000 clients of Glide's meals program.
