2010 Leadership Conference and Workshops: Using New Media & Health Communication Technologies April 15, 2010, 8:00am - 5:00pm UC Berkeley Center for Health Leadership Why this Conference? Understanding and using new media tools are critical skills for today’s health leaders. More than a billion videos are viewed on YouTube everyday, 193 million people are active Facebook users, and more than half the world’s population now uses mobile phones. New media and health communication tools, including social media, blogs, digital storytelling, video, virtual communities, Twitter, mobile phones and more, provide powerful new ways for leaders to engage with each other, their constituencies and with communities worldwide. New media tools are being effectively used to facilitate the management of health organizations, support health education and disease management, inform health research and promote health advocacy. At our 21st Century Tools for Health Leadership Conference, we invited health leaders, practitioners, educators and students to join us as we explored some of these important questions:
