Leadership Day 2012
Center for Health Leadership 2012 Annual Leadership Day
“Leading From Where You Are”
August 21, 2012
8:00am - 4:00pm
Berkeley City Club
Congratulations again on your decision to attend the UC Berkeley School of Public Health! Most students come to the School of Public Health at Berkeley because they want to make a difference in the world, and school is a way to gain the knowledge, skills and networks necessary to make that difference. At the Center for Health Leadership, we strive to help students become leaders that make that difference in the world. We do this by offering a variety of opportunities for active learning, both inside and outside the classroom, during and after the student's time at UC Berkeley.
The 2012 Annual Leadership Day was a great opportunity to interact with current and former students, professors, and community leaders before classes begin. It was also the first chance for students to get a glimpse of the opportunities they have for practicing leadership in the diverse field of public health and to understand how they can take advantage of their time at school to develop leadership skills.
Leadership day included:
- Teamwork training
- Ways to get involved in leadership opportunities
- Preparing to optimize your first year in graduate school
- Networking with alumni already practicing public health in the field
- Meeting and connecting with second year students
- And much more!
Last year’s students had the following things to say about Leadership Day:
“It was great, loved that it’s a more intimate orientation. This was a great program.”
“Great job! I definitely feel more energized and motivated to start my MPH career.”
“A lot of emphasis on networking which is great!”
