After an inspiring keynote, attendees participated in breakout sessions that included skill development workshops, career and public health interest areas, and small-group coaching.

In this enlivening and inspiring address to kick off the conference, master coach, career consultant, and inspirational speaker Leslie Lupinsky guided students through a set of thought provoking and fun exercises which gave students the tools to:

  • Design how students want to be perceived in the work world
  • Set an intention and achieve the results students are after
  • Have the career of a student's dreams, rather than settling

10:45 Skill Development Workshops or Small Group Coaching Sessions

For this session, attendees chose between a skill development workshop or a small group coaching session. Coaching sessions provided an opportunity to identify student's core values and skills and apply them to create solutions and strategies to achieve their goals.

  • Coaching Session B: Managing Your Time for Enhanced Productivity and Reduced Stress
  • Coaching Session C: Creating Effective Relationships with Your Supervisors
  • Coaching Session D: Changing Your Career or Work Direction
  • Coaching Session E: Managing Your Career and Your Well-being in Times of Organizational Change and Transition

 

12:00 Small Group Discussions on Career Issues by Area of Interest - Where do you work and What do you do?

These groups, facilitated by fellow alumni, continued into lunch groups:

  • healthcare administration
  • community health services and community clinics
  • global and international health
  • research
  • evaluation
  • health departments
  • occupational and environmental health
  • foundations and funders
  • teaching/education/training
  • NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and community organizing
  • health communications, social marketing, and new media
  • healthcare systems/hospitals
  • consulting
  • biotechnology, manufacturing, and pharmacology

 

12:30 Lunch groups by Interest Area.

Afternoon

3:30 “Speed Dating Style” Table Discussions with “Seasoned” Alumni

Alumni representing different career paths, work, and organizations were on hand to share their life, and public health lessons. With timed sessions, students were able to meet with and learn from multiple “seasoned” alumni.
